Ultimate Guide To Grays Hockey Stick Bows

Welcome to the world of Grays hockey stick bows! If you're looking for or are interested in purchasing one of the new Grays hockey sticks then we understand it can be confusing when trying to pick the right bow for you. If you are in that spot then this blog is just for you!

The shape of the bow on your stick massively impacts how to receive, dribble, hit, pass and control the ball. Grays offer a large array of different bow types to suit every player. Now we won't get into carbon content too much in this blog, we're going to keep it specifically on Grays bows, however if you are interested in learning about carbon content in hockey sticks we have a blog explaining exactly what and how carbon effects hockey sticks.

Dynabow

Perfect for midfielders, the original Dynabow offers a smooth curve and slim mid-section, allowing for fast hands and accurate passes. It’s great for all-rounders who value finesse and versatility. Midfielders especially love the Dynabow, but we would recommend any position on the pitch could use the Dynabow.

Take a look at the DB10 for a higher carbon option and the DB6 if you want a lower carbon option.

Dynabow + (DB+)

New for the 2025/26 season, the DB+ is an upgrade on the popular Dynabow. With extra power built into the bow and an improved Lower Backhand Zone (LBZ), it’s ideal for fast, dynamic players who want control, speed, and precision—especially on the reverse stick.

We would recommend the DB10+ for the absolute maximum power and comfort for hitting either forehand or backhand. And for less carbon we would recommend the DB7+

Jumbow

This low bow is built for big hitting, drag-flicking, and launching aerials. If you’re a powerhouse player who thrives on dominating key moments, the Jumbow is for you. We have found a lot of forwards loving the Jumbow bow profile due to it's ability to help the player with 3D skills and flicking at goal.

We would recommend the JB8 for the perfect balance of high carbon power and amazing first touch responsiveness.

Probow

Designed for elite-level 3D play, the Probow’s ultra-low curve helps with quick stick work, flicks, and aerial skills. If you love creativity and flair, this is your stick. Very similar to the jumbow bow profile only more aggressive and really emphasises helping the player with flicking and 3D skills.

We would recommend the PB9 if you want a stick that basically does everything extremely well.

Midbow

A consistent, balanced shape for players refining their fundamental skills. The MB offers control and stability, with a concave spine to help with reverse stick hits. We would recommend the MB7 for a great all round hockey stick (we also really like the design for this)

Ultrabow

Simple, straight, and stable—the Ultrabow is ideal for newer players learning the basics. It’s the most traditional shape in the range and a great entry point. We recommend the UB4 as a brilliant option for the player who is really starting to get into hockey and would like an upgrade from their previous stick.

We hope this blog has helped explain the differences in Grays hockey stick bows. If you are still unsure then please pick up the phone and we would be welcome to answer any more questions you have. You can find our details on our contact page
