Are girls' hockey shoes different from boys'?
No. Junior hockey shoes are unisex, so the difference is the colours, not the fit. Once she's into adult sizes, our women's hockey shoes include women's-specific shoes like the adidas Fabela range, which start at UK 4.
How should junior hockey shoes fit?
- About a thumb's width at the toe. Buying two sizes up to grow into makes the shoe loose and unstable.
- Try them on with hockey socks.
- Check the fit every season, because young feet grow quickly.
Which one should we choose?
The Youngstar 2 is our best-selling junior shoe, and it's cushioned and breathable with grip for water-based and sand-dressed pitches. For a first pair on a budget, the adidas Youngstar Rise and Kookaburra Orbit Junior are both good value.
