The Best Women's Hockey Shoes 2026/27

Do you actually need a women's hockey shoe? Not always, but lots of players find one more comfortable, because it's built on a last designed around a women's foot rather than a scaled-down men's shoe.

For 2026/27 the choice mostly comes down to adidas' Fabela range and the Grays Aero Cage XW10. Here's how they compare and which one we'd pick for different players.

adidas Fabela X 2: the match-day shoe

The Fabela X 2 has been our best-selling women's hockey shoe over the last year by a distance, and it's easy to see why. It's adidas' top women's shoe, built on a women's-specific last and designed to combine lightweight speed, stability and comfort on water-based and sand-dressed pitches.

The 2026/27 version comes in Solar Turbo and White/Dual Lilac. If you play regularly and want the best adidas make for women, this is the one.

adidas Fabela Zone 3: the club shoe

The Fabela Zone 3 sits in the middle of the range. adidas pitch it as their club performance shoe: lightweight, stable and responsive, with good grip and a durable build for training and matches. It's a sensible choice if you train and play every week but don't need the top model. Choose from Solar Turbo or Lilac.

adidas Fabela Rise 2: the comfortable all-rounder

The Fabela Rise 2 is the most affordable of the three: a comfortable, grippy, versatile shoe that's ideal for newer players, school players or anyone who wants a women's fit without spending a lot. Last season's Fabela Rise was our second most popular women's shoe, so it's clearly a formula that works. It comes in Solar Turbo and Lilac.

Grays Aero Cage XW10: a women's fit from Grays

The Grays Aero Cage XW10 is built around the shape of the female foot, with Grays' Genius Foam cushioning and A.S.C outsole. It's a good alternative if you'd like a women's-specific shoe that isn't an adidas.

Looking for a bargain?

If you don't mind last season's colours, the previous-season Fabela X 2 in Blue and Fabela Rise in Purple are still in stock in some sizes. Keep an eye on our hockey shoe sale too.

Which one should you buy?

  • You play regularly and want the best: Fabela X 2.
  • You train and play every week: Fabela Zone 3.
  • You're newer to hockey or on a budget: Fabela Rise 2.
  • You want a women's fit from a different brand: Grays Aero Cage XW10.

Do you need a women's-specific shoe?

Not necessarily. Plenty of women play in unisex shoes from Mizuno or Osaka. Mizuno tends to come up on the narrow side, which suits some feet better than others. The best shoe is the one that holds your heel and midfoot securely without pinching your toes, so if you can, try a couple of options. Our ultimate hockey shoe guide compares every brand we stock.
