Hockey Balls

Hockey balls for matches, training, juniors and indoor, from Kookaburra, Grays and Mercian. Our best seller by a mile is the Kookaburra Dimple Saturn, the go-to training ball for clubs and schools, and for matches we'd pick the Kookaburra Dimple Standard, which is on the FIH's approved ball list. Which hockey ball do I need?

Club matches: the Kookaburra Dimple Standard or the 2-Star Grays Match.
Training and schools: the Kookaburra Dimple Saturn, in loads of bright colours for winter evenings.
Juniors and mini hockey: a lighter ball like the Kookaburra Dimple Air Lite or Fury Mini, or the bigger, lighter Mercian Large Training Ball.
Skills work: the 200g Kookaburra Dimple Titan, a heavy ball for building strength. Not for matches.
Indoor: a proper indoor ball, like the Kookaburra Elite Indoor or Grays Indoor.
Goalkeepers: the egg-shaped OBO Bobbla, which bounces unpredictably to sharpen reactions.

What size and weight is a hockey ball?

Under the FIH Rules of Hockey, a ball weighs 156g to 163g, has a circumference of 224mm to 235mm, and is hard with a smooth surface, although dimples are allowed. It can be any material, and it's white or another colour that contrasts with the pitch.
