A hockey backpack is the easiest way to get to training on foot, by bike or on the bus: your stick goes on the outside and your hands stay free. The Y1 Ranger is one of our best sellers, with a stick holder on the side, a separate laptop compartment and 30 litres of space, while the Y1 Dash (15 litres) and Roam 2.0 (18 litres) are lighter, cheaper everyday bags. Need more room? A holdall like the 50-litre Y1 Matchday Bag takes a full kit. Questions? Call us on 0191 447 4744.

Backpack or holdall?

  • Backpack: best if you carry one stick and travel on foot, by bike or on public transport. Most have a stick holder or harness on the outside, like the Grays G150 and the Grays Cyclone WP, which also has a waterproof valuables pocket.
  • Holdall: best if you drive to the pitch, carry a lot of kit or keep your sticks in a separate stick bag or sleeve. The large-capacity adidas VS .6 Holdall and the Y1 Matchday Bag both take a full kit.

What to look for

  • A stick holder: if you want to carry your stick on the bag.
  • Capacity: 15 to 18 litres is plenty for school and training. Go for 30 litres or more if you carry shoes, pads and a change of clothes.
  • Separate compartments: a shoe or laptop compartment keeps muddy shoes away from everything else.

Carrying more than one stick?

Take a look at our stick and kit bags, which carry several sticks alongside your kit.
